The unit of output will be quality-adjusted life years, to be referred to by the acronym QALY. 1989 V. R. GODWIN in M. G. Field Success & Crisis in National Health Syst. ix. 278 Recent findings indicate that the cost of a QALY of hemodialysis in a hospital is fourteen times that of a coronary artery by-pass graft. 2005 Health & Med.
